The Coconut Man Turf and Ornamental grew out of a twofold burden to solve a serious problem. As I mentored and supplied many Lawn Care Operators in our community, I grew frustrated with the whole model for taking care of lawns because I knew there was a better, more sustainable way. Also, I worked for a company that sold lots of sod (Millions of dollars worth each year!). I understand clearly that there is a big problem that I can help to solve.

The processes and systems are very simple and the answers are found by observing nature. Why do we not see nice green grass in the desert? There is not enough water. Why does your lawn struggle so much? Most likely a water issue.

Most Lawn Care Operators are simply spraying Nitrogen, Iron, and pesticides, and moving on to the next property. They do not have time or training to fix the cause of most problems. So the lack of concern for root causes creates an untenable situation: Heavy amounts of quick release Nitrogen causes sudden green and growth to turf which then weakens the turf and invites pest pressure or disease. Furthermore, a good amount of Nitrogen can end up in the waterways.

After time, this situation ends with the customer replacing sod that was never truly taken care of properly and the cycle starts all over again. The customer blames the Lawn Care Operator, the LCO blames the mowing crew, and everyone loses.
